Who Do You Think You Are?

I spend a lot of time listening to grassroots groups, along with really small and beautifully formed locally rooted enterprises and businesses. As they begin to grow and spread their wings, time and t

The Practice of No

At the ripe old age of 54, I think I’m becoming more comfortable saying ‘no’. Thanks I think in part to the 12 month programme with Peter Block and Peter Pula exploring Blocks book Confr

Small Steps to 2024

It’s the last day of the year, a time of reflection. Thinking about endings and new starts or maybe carrying on just as we are, putting one foot in front of the other. This morning I’m thinking ma

Why People Come Together-Part 2

This summer, whilst we were in full community Playbox flow, Jack Hunter came to visit for a day. We had a mooch around the neighbourhood and then settled in the park where we sat on the grass whilst J

Open Heart, Firm Spine

Yesterday I had an experience of being in a space where there was an outpouring of toxicity.  It was a bit of a shock as I’m less used to being in those kind of spaces these days.  I felt

Welcome to The Journal of a Journey

We say this work requires an open heart and a strong spine.  Anything that challenges capitalism and those who hoard power is notoriously difficult to do.

On the Springfield, Beech Hill and Gidlow CommUnity website, we document the joyful story of the community becoming more connected.

Here, the journal of the journey intends to talk more about the behind the scenes work that relates to the theory of change. To hold the looking glass as we walk.
