Journal of a Journey

Rest is Resistance

A week has gone by since I last put pen to paper. I’ve been resting. Learning that rest is resistance, and practising being with the survivor’s guilt that appears whenever I do take a break. How can I as a white privileged woman take a break when so many people do not have that choice?

I have the working class anger still alive in me, but it no longer belongs to me, as I am middle class and privileged. It’s an ongoing practice, the guilt and the shame, and with age, I’m getting more able to sit with the discomfort of it all, without wanting to change it.

One of the gems of rest is what appears or becomes more clear when you take some.
